a few things to note about this journey –
this was the quietest and least busy I’ve seen the national mall in a very long time. it is winter, but still.
something about the lack of people made the 10,000 step walk around the entire mall feel especially disorienting.
that, paired with the ridiculously huge size of the national monuments made for what felt like a humbling promenade through a ghost town in the making.
